🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Drain the transmission fluid

• Place a drain pan under the transmission pan.
• Use the socket set to remove the drain plug, if equipped.
• If there is no drain plug, loosen the pan bolts with the socket set and let one side of the pan drop slowly to drain the fluid.
• Let it drain fully before removing the pan.

Step 2: Remove the pan and filter

• Use the socket set to remove the pan bolts.
• Lower the pan carefully and pour out any remaining fluid.
• Remove the old filter with your hand or a gentle pull.
• Inspect the pan for metal debris. A light paste on the magnet is normal.

Step 3: Clean and install new parts

• Clean the pan with a clean rag and brake cleaner if needed.
• Install the new transmission filter.
• Install the new transmission pan gasket.
• Reinstall the pan and hand-start all bolts.

• With the engine idling, check the level at the transmission fill/check procedure once the fluid reaches the correct temperature range.
• Add fluid slowly until it just begins to dribble from the level check point.
• Torque to 12 Nm (106 in-lbs) for the fill/check plug, if equipped.

Step 6: Inspect for leaks

• Clean any spilled fluid from the pan and case.
• Check around the pan gasket, drain plug, and fill plug for leaks.
• Lower the truck and road test it gently.
