🔧 Timing Drive - Not Equipped With a Timing Belt
Your Silverado does not use a timing belt. The 5.3L V8 uses a timing chain, which is a different internal engine drive system and is not a routine replacement item like a belt.
Difficulty Level: Advanced | Estimated Time: 8-14 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Work only with the engine completely cool.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable before disassembly.
- Timing chain service is deep engine work and can affect valve timing.
- Label all parts and keep them in order during teardown.
- Battery disconnect is required.
