š§ Suburban - Side View Mirror Replacement
Replacing the side mirror on your Suburban usually means removing the interior door trim panel, unplugging the mirror wiring connector, and unbolting the mirror from inside the door. On your Premier, mirrors are commonly power-adjust, heated, and may include power-fold/turn signal/puddle lamp, so the connector needs to match your options.
Difficulty Level: Intermediate | Estimated Time: 1.0-2.0 hours (one side)

šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Remove the inside sail panel (triangle trim)
- Use a plastic trim removal tool set to gently pry off the small triangular trim panel at the front-top corner of the door (inside, by the mirror).
- Work slowly; clips can snap.
Step 2: Remove the front door trim panel fasteners
- Use a small flat-blade screwdriver to pop out the screw covers (usually behind the interior door handle area and in the pull handle pocket).
- Remove screws using a Torx T15 driver and/or Torx T30 driver (your door may use both).
- Keep screws organized by location.
Step 3: Release the door trim panel clips and lift the panel off
- Slide a plastic trim removal tool set under the bottom edge of the door panel and pop the retaining clips free one-by-one.
- Once clips are loose, lift the panel straight upward to unhook it from the window ledge.
- A trim tool is a plastic pry tool for panels.
Step 4: Disconnect electrical connectors and the door handle cable
- Support the panel close to the door (donāt let it hang by wires).
- Unplug the electrical connectors using a pick tool (helpful for releasing locking tabs) and/or your fingers.
- If equipped with a mechanical inside-handle cable, unclip it using a small flat-blade screwdriver (release the cable housing clip, then lift the cable end out of the lever).
Step 5: Locate and unplug the mirror connector
- Find the mirror wiring connector inside the door near the mirror mounting area.
- Use a pick tool to release the connector lock, then unplug it.
Step 6: Remove the mirror mounting nuts
- Hold the mirror on the outside with one hand.
- Use a 10mm socket, 1/4" drive ratchet, and 3" extension to remove the three mirror nuts.
- If a nut drops inside the door, use a magnetic pickup tool.
Step 7: Remove the mirror and transfer parts (if needed)
- Pull the mirror away from the door and feed the wiring through the opening.
- If your new mirror didnāt include the foam gasket, transfer the gasket to the new mirror by hand.
Step 8: Install the new mirror
- Feed the wiring through the door opening and set the mirror onto the mounting studs.
- Start all three nuts by hand to prevent cross-threading.
- Use a 10mm socket to snug them evenly.
- Use a torque wrench (in-lb or low Nm): Torque to 10 Nm (89 in-lb).
Step 9: Reconnect the mirror connector and reassemble the door
- Plug the mirror connector back in until it clicks (use a pick tool only if you need help guiding the lock).
- Reconnect all door panel electrical connectors by hand.
- Reconnect the door handle cable (if equipped) by hand.
- Hang the door panel on the top window ledge, then press clips in around the edges using firm palm pressure.
- Reinstall screws using the Torx T15 driver and Torx T30 driver, then snap the screw covers back in by hand.
- Reinstall the sail panel using hand pressure until clips seat.
Step 10: Reconnect the battery
- Reconnect the negative battery cable using a 10mm socket.
ā After Repair
- Turn the ignition on and test mirror functions: power adjust, heat, turn signal, puddle lamp, and power-fold (if equipped).
- Confirm the mirror sits flush against the door and there are no wind-noise gaps at the gasket.
- Open/close the door and confirm no rattles (a loose clip is the usual cause).
- If the power-fold or memory features donāt work, recheck that the mirror connector is fully latched and that the replacement mirror matches your Premier options.
