📋 Before You Begin

• Park on level ground.
• Set the parking brake.
• Chock the rear wheels.
• Let the engine cool fully.
• If you raise the front right corner, support it with a jack stand before going underneath.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Lift and access the belt area

• Use the floor jack to raise the front right side of the car.
• Place the car securely on a jack stand.
• Remove the front right wheel with the 17mm socket.
• Remove the lower splash shield or wheel liner fasteners with the T25 Torx screwdriver or T30 Torx screwdriver, depending on which screws are fitted.

Step 2: Inspect the belt routing

• Use a flashlight to trace the belt path before removing it.
• Take a quick photo first.
• Make sure you can see how the belt sits on each pulley before you start.

Step 3: Release belt tension

• Fit the 16mm wrench onto the tensioner hex.
• Rotate the tensioner slowly to relieve belt tension.
• With the tension off, slip the belt off one accessible pulley by hand.
• Let the tensioner return slowly.

Step 4: Remove the old belt

• Pull the belt out of the engine bay.
• Inspect the old belt for cracks, missing ribs, or shiny glazed spots.

Step 5: Install the new belt

• Route the new belt around the pulleys exactly the same way as the old one.
• Leave the easiest-to-reach pulley for last.
• Use the 16mm wrench to rotate the tensioner again.
• Slip the belt onto the last pulley by hand.
• Make sure every rib sits fully in every pulley groove.
• One misrouted rib can shred the belt.

Step 6: Verify belt seating

• Turn the belt by hand as far as you can see.
• Check that it is centered on each pulley.
• Confirm the belt is not twisted.

Step 7: Reassemble and torque

• Reinstall the splash shield and wheel liner fasteners with the T25 Torx screwdriver or T30 Torx screwdriver.
• Reinstall the wheel with the 17mm socket.
• Torque wheel bolts to 120 Nm (89 ft-lbs).
• Lower the car with the floor jack.

• Start the engine and let it idle.
• Watch the belt for smooth tracking.
• Listen for squealing, chirping, or slapping noises.
• Turn the steering wheel and switch on the A/C to confirm normal operation.
• If the belt runs crooked, shut the engine off and recheck routing.
