🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open the hatch and access the rear lamp fasteners
- Open the rear hatch and locate the interior access area behind the tail lamp.
- Use a trim panel tool to gently move aside any trim cover blocking access.
- Look for the lamp retaining fasteners on the inside edge of the tail lamp.
Step 2: Remove the rear lamp assembly
- Use a Torx T20 screwdriver to remove the lamp retaining screws.
- Support the lamp with one hand and slide it straight rearward.
- Pull straight back, not sideways.
- Disconnect the electrical connector if needed to fully remove the lamp.
Step 3: Remove the bulb holder
- Use your hand or a small flat-blade screwdriver to release the bulb holder from the lamp housing if it is tight.
- Rotate the bulb holder counterclockwise and pull it out.
- Remove the old turn signal bulb from the holder.
Step 4: Install the new bulb
- Install the new rear turn signal bulb into the holder.
- Make sure it seats fully and matches the original bulb style.
- Reinstall the bulb holder into the lamp and twist it clockwise to lock it.
Step 5: Reinstall the lamp assembly
- Reconnect the lamp electrical connector if removed.
- Align the lamp with the body opening.
- Use the Torx T20 screwdriver to reinstall and snug the retaining screws.
- Torque to 3 Nm (27 in-lbs).
Step 6: Test the repair
- Turn on the ignition and activate the left and right turn signals.
- Confirm both rear signals flash normally.
- Check for a bulb-out warning on the dash.
