⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Turn the lights off and remove the key before starting.
  • Let the bulbs cool down if the lamps were recently on.
  • Do not touch the glass of the new bulb with bare fingers.
  • Use gentle force on the tail lamp so you do not crack the housing.
  • No battery disconnect is required for this repair.

Step 1: Open the tailgate and locate the tail lamp fasteners

  • Open the tailgate on the side you are replacing.
  • Look at the inside edge of the tail lamp housing.
  • Use an 8mm socket and ratchet to remove the tail lamp screws.

Step 2: Remove the tail lamp assembly

Step 3: Remove the bulb socket

  • Find the rear turn signal bulb socket on the back of the lamp housing.
  • Rotate the socket counterclockwise by hand and pull it out.
  • Remove the old bulb from the socket by pulling it straight out.

Step 4: Install the new bulb

  • Install the new rear turn signal bulb into the socket.
  • Make sure it sits fully in place.
  • Reinsert the socket into the lamp housing and turn it clockwise to lock it.

Step 5: Reinstall the tail lamp assembly

  • Line up the locating pins with the body openings.
  • Push the lamp straight into place.
  • Reinstall the screws with the 8mm socket and ratchet.
  • Torque to 3-4 Nm (27-35 in-lbs).

Step 6: Test the new bulb

  • Turn the ignition on.
  • Activate the turn signal on the repaired side.
  • Confirm the front, rear, and dash indicators flash normally.
