🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Access the rear lamp bulb area
- Open the rear hatch and go to the side with the failed turn signal.
- Use a trim panel removal tool to gently remove the small access cover behind the tail lamp assembly.
- If the cover is tight, use a small flat-blade screwdriver carefully to start the edge.
- Work slowly to avoid scratching trim.
Step 2: Remove the bulb socket
- Reach into the opening and locate the rear turn signal bulb socket.
- Twist the socket counterclockwise by hand and pull it straight out.
- If it sticks, use a gloved hand for extra grip.
Step 3: Replace the bulb
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
- Install the new rear turn signal bulb by pressing it straight into the socket.
- Make sure the bulb is fully seated.
- Do not twist the glass bulb.
Step 4: Reinstall the socket
- Align the socket tabs with the opening in the lamp assembly.
- Push the socket in, then twist it clockwise until it locks.
- Use your hand only. No torque spec applies here.
Step 5: Reinstall the access cover
- Snap the rear access cover back into place.
- Press around the edges to make sure it is fully seated.
Step 6: Test the new bulb
- Turn the ignition on.
- Activate the left and right turn signals one at a time.
- Confirm the new bulb flashes normally and at the correct speed.
