🔧 Rear Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
Replacing the rear turn signal bulb on your CR-V is a simple job. You’ll access the bulb holder from inside the rear cargo area, twist out the socket, replace the bulb, and reinstall everything.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Turn the ignition off and remove the key before starting.
- Let the rear lamp area cool down if the lights have been on. Bulbs can get hot.
- Use a clean glove or paper towel when handling the new bulb. Finger oils can shorten bulb life.
- Do not force the tail lamp or socket. The plastic tabs can break easily.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open the rear access area
- Open the tailgate.
- Move cargo out of the way so you can reach the rear lamp access cover inside the cargo area.
Step 2: Remove the access cover
- Use your hands or a trim panel tool to remove the small access cover behind the tail lamp.
- Work gently to avoid scuffing trim.
Step 3: Remove the bulb socket
- Reach into the opening and locate the rear turn signal bulb socket.
- Use your hand to twist the socket counterclockwise and pull it straight out.
- If it feels stuck, wiggle lightly while twisting. Do not pry hard.
Step 4: Replace the bulb
- Use a glove or clean cloth to pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
- Push the new bulb into the socket until it seats fully.
- Make sure the bulb is fully locked in place.
Step 5: Reinstall the socket
- Insert the socket back into the tail lamp housing.
- Twist it clockwise by hand until it locks.
- Make sure it sits flush and does not wobble.
Step 6: Test the turn signal
- Turn the ignition on.
- Activate the rear turn signal and check that the new bulb flashes normally.
- Check the opposite side too if you replaced both bulbs.
Step 7: Reinstall the access cover
- Put the access cover back in place.
- Press it firmly until it seats fully.
✅ After Repair
- Walk around the vehicle and verify both rear turn signals flash correctly.
