🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Access the air cleaner assembly
- Open the hood and locate the air cleaner box on the engine side of the bay.
- Use a flat blade trim tool or 7mm socket if needed to loosen any intake duct clamps or retainers.
- Work gently around plastic clips.
Step 2: Disconnect the MAF electrical connector
- Find the MAF sensor on the intake tube or air cleaner outlet.
- Press the locking tab and unplug the connector by hand.
- If the connector is tight, use a flat blade trim tool very carefully to release the tab.
Step 3: Remove the MAF sensor
- Use a Phillips screwdriver or 7mm socket to remove the sensor screws, depending on the fastener style.
- Lift the sensor straight out of the housing.
- Inspect the seal and clean the mounting area if needed.
Step 4: Install the new MAF sensor
- Compare the new sensor to the old one before installing.
- Place the sensor into the housing in the same direction as the original.
- Install the screws by hand first, then tighten with the Phillips screwdriver or 7mm socket.
- Torque to 2-3 Nm (18-27 in-lbs).
- Do not overtighten the plastic housing.
Step 5: Reconnect and secure everything
- Plug the electrical connector back into the sensor until it clicks.
- Reinstall any intake duct clamps or retainers using the 7mm socket.
- Make sure all air ducts are fully seated and tight.

- Check that the check engine light is off.
- Listen for air leaks or a loose intake hose.
- If the light stays on, clear codes with a scan tool and recheck the connector.
