🔧 Mass Air Flow Sensor - Replacement
The MAF sensor on your Silverado sits in the intake air tube and measures incoming air so the engine computer can calculate fuel delivery. - Work with the engine off and fully cooled down.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable before unplugging the sensor.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open the hood and locate the sensor

- Use an 8mm socket and ratchet to remove the negative battery cable.
- Move the cable aside so it cannot touch the battery terminal.

- If the connector is tight, use a flat-blade trim tool gently to release the tab.
Step 4: Remove the sensor
- Use a Torx T20 screwdriver to remove the sensor screws.
- Lift the sensor straight out of the intake tube.
- Do not drop dirt into the opening.
Step 5: Install the new sensor
- Set the new MAF sensor into place in the same direction as the old one.
- Install the Torx screws by hand first, then tighten them with the Torx T20 screwdriver.
- Torque to 2.5 Nm (22 ft-lbs).
Step 6: Reconnect the electrical connector
- Push the connector on until it clicks fully into place.
- Make sure the connector is locked and seated straight.
Step 7: Reconnect the battery
- Use the 8mm socket and ratchet to reinstall the negative battery cable.
- Tighten it snugly, but do not over-tighten.
✅ After Repair
