🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Relieve fuel system pressure
- Use the fuel pump fuse or relay method in the fuse box, then crank the engine until it stalls.
- Turn the key off and disconnect the negative battery cable with an 8mm socket.
- Open the fuel cap to release any remaining pressure.
Step 2: Raise and support the truck
- Use a floor jack to lift the rear of the vehicle.
- Set the truck securely on jack stands before going underneath.

Step 3: Support the fuel tank
- Place a floor jack with a wide board under the fuel tank.

Step 8: Reinstall the fuel tank
- Raise the tank back into place with the floor jack.
- Reconnect the EVAP line, fuel lines, and electrical connector.
- Reinstall the tank straps with the 13mm socket.
- Torque the strap bolts to factory specification.
Step 9: Reconnect and prime the system
- Reinstall any shields or skid plates with the 10mm socket.
- Reconnect the negative battery cable with the 8mm socket.
- Turn the key to ON for 5 seconds, then OFF. Repeat 3 times to prime the system.
