🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Relieve fuel pressure
- Remove the fuel pump fuse or relay if needed.
- Start the engine and let it run until it stalls.
- Crank a few more seconds to bleed off pressure.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable with a 10mm socket.
Step 2: Raise and support the vehicle
- Use a floor jack rated 3-ton minimum to lift the Equinox.

- Install the strap bolts with a 15mm socket.
- Torque the tank strap bolts to OEM specification.
- Reinstall shields and braces with a 10mm socket or 13mm socket.
Step 9: Prime and test
- Reconnect the negative battery cable with a 10mm socket.
- Turn the key to ON for 5 seconds, then OFF. Repeat 3 times.
- Start the engine and check for leaks.
- Verify fuel gauge and normal idle.
