🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Remove the door trim panel

• Use a trim removal tool to pry off the switch panel and any trim covers on the front door.
• Use a Phillips screwdriver and 10mm socket to remove the screws behind the pull handle and lower trim points.
• Carefully pop the door panel clips loose with the trim tool and lift the panel upward to remove it.
• Disconnect the electrical connectors from the switch panel and speaker if equipped.

Step 2: Peel back the vapor barrier

• Use a flat blade trim tool to gently lift the vapor barrier without tearing it.
• Peel it back enough to access the regulator bolts and window fasteners.
• Keep the adhesive clean so it seals again.

Step 3: Secure the glass

• Use painter’s tape to hold the window glass in the fully raised position.
• If the glass is down, support it by hand while you work.
• Be sure the glass cannot fall into the door.

Step 4: Disconnect the glass from the regulator

• Use a 10mm socket to remove the bolts or fasteners that attach the glass to the regulator carrier.
• Lift the glass slightly by hand and keep it taped in place.
• Do not force the glass sideways.

Step 5: Remove the old regulator

• Use a 10mm socket and ratchet with extension to remove the regulator mounting bolts.
• Use a 12mm socket if your door has a larger motor or carrier fastener at any mounting point.
• Disconnect the regulator motor electrical connector.
• Work the regulator assembly out through the large access opening in the door.

Step 6: Install the new regulator

• Slide the new front window regulator assembly into the door opening.
• Use the 10mm socket to start all mounting bolts by hand first.
• Reconnect the motor connector.
• Torque the regulator mounting bolts to 8 Nm (71 in-lbs).

Step 7: Reattach the glass

• Lower the tape and carefully align the glass with the regulator carrier.
• Use the 10mm socket to install the glass-to-regulator fasteners.
• Torque the glass fasteners to 8 Nm (71 in-lbs).
• Remove the tape only after the glass is secured.

Step 8: Test the window before reassembly

• Reconnect the negative battery cable.
• Turn the key on and use the window switch to run the glass up and down.
• Make sure it tracks smoothly and does not bind or click.
• If it binds, stop and realign the glass before putting the door back together.

Step 9: Reinstall the vapor barrier and door panel

• Press the vapor barrier back into place so it seals the door opening.
• Reconnect all electrical connectors before hanging the door panel.
• Align the panel clips and press the door panel into place.
• Reinstall all screws and trim covers using the Phillips screwdriver and 10mm socket.
• Torque the door panel screws snugly only; do not overtighten.
