🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Lift the truck and remove the wheel
- Use a 21mm socket and breaker bar to loosen the lug nuts.
- Raise the truck with a floor jack and support it with jack stands.
- Remove the lug nuts and wheel.
Step 2: Remove the brake caliper and bracket
- Use a 17mm socket to remove the caliper bracket bolts.
- Remove the caliper and bracket together, then hang it with a bungee cord.
- Torque on reassembly: 101 Nm (75 ft-lbs) for the caliper bracket bolts.
- Do not let the brake hose stretch.
Step 3: Remove the rotor
- Pull the rotor off.
- If stuck, tap it gently with a rubber mallet.
Step 4: Free the ABS sensor wire
- Use a trim clip tool to release any wire clips.
- Unplug the ABS sensor connector carefully.
- Do not tug on the wire.
Step 5: Remove the hub bolts
- Use a 17mm socket to remove the hub mounting bolts from the back of the knuckle.
- Apply penetrating oil first if the bolts are rusty.
- Torque on reassembly: 127 Nm (94 ft-lbs) for the hub bolts.
Step 6: Remove the old hub assembly
- Pull the hub assembly straight out.
- If it is seized, tap around the hub flange with a rubber mallet.
- Clean the mounting surface with a wire brush.
Step 7: Install the new hub assembly
- Position the new hub assembly in place.
- Start all bolts by hand, then tighten with a 17mm socket.
- Torque to 127 Nm (94 ft-lbs).
- Reconnect the ABS sensor and secure the wire in the clips.
Step 8: Reinstall the rotor, caliper, and wheel
- Install the rotor.
- Reinstall the caliper bracket with a 17mm socket.
- Torque to 101 Nm (75 ft-lbs).
- Install the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts with a 21mm socket.
- Lower the truck and torque the lug nuts to 113 Nm (83 ft-lbs) in a star pattern.

- Spin the wheel by hand and make sure it turns smoothly.
- Start the truck and confirm the ABS light stays off.
- Test-drive slowly and listen for noise.
- Recheck lug nut torque after the road test.
