🔧 F-150 - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
This job replaces the front turn signal bulb inside each headlamp housing. On your F-150, access is from the rear of the headlamp area, usually through the wheel-well side of the housing. Replace both sides if one bulb has failed so the light output stays even.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Turn the lights off and remove the key/fob before starting.
- Let the bulbs cool before touching the housing; halogen bulbs get very hot.
- Do not touch a new halogen bulb glass with bare fingers. Oil can shorten bulb life.
- If you must work near the tire, keep the steering wheel straight and the truck on level ground with the parking brake set.
- No battery disconnect is required for this bulb swap.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open access to the back of the headlamp
- Turn the steering wheel away from the side you are servicing.
- Use the trim clip removal tool and 7mm socket with the 1/4-inch ratchet to remove any fasteners holding the front wheel-well liner access area, if needed.
- Pull the liner back carefully to reach the rear of the headlamp housing.
Step 2: Remove the turn signal bulb socket
- Reach behind the headlamp and find the bulb socket for the front turn signal.
- Twist the socket counterclockwise and pull it out by hand.
- If the socket is tight, use needle-nose pliers gently on the socket body, not the wires.
- Do not force it.
Step 3: Replace the bulb
- Remove the old bulb from the socket.
- Install the new front turn signal bulb into the socket.
- Make sure the bulb is fully seated and straight.
Step 4: Reinstall the socket
- Insert the socket back into the headlamp housing.
- Twist it clockwise until it locks.
- Reconnect any liner pieces and reinstall any 7mm fasteners you removed.
Step 5: Test the new bulb
- Turn the key on and activate the left and right turn signals one at a time.
- Check for a steady flash and confirm the bulb lights up.
- If it does not work, remove the socket and recheck the bulb seating.
✅ After Repair
- Confirm both front turn signals flash at normal speed.
- Check the hazard lights too.
