🔧 Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement

Replacing the front turn signal bulb on your Accord is a straightforward repair that usually takes less than 30 minutes per side. On this model, you normally access the bulb from the back of the headlamp housing, so there is no need to remove the bumper or headlight assembly.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Turn the headlight switch off and remove the key before starting.
  • Let the bulbs cool down before touching the housing or bulb socket.
  • Do not touch the glass part of the new bulb with bare fingers; oil can shorten bulb life.
  • If the bulb is very tight, do not force it. The socket tabs can break.
  • No battery disconnect is required for this repair.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Trim panel tool
  • Flashlight
  • Latex or nitrile gloves
  • Safety glasses

🔩 Required Parts

  • Front turn signal bulb - Qty: 2

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
  • Turn the steering wheel away from the side you are working on for better access.
  • Open the hood and support it fully.
  • Work on one side at a time.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open access to the headlamp area

  • Open the hood and locate the back side of the headlamp housing.
  • Use a flashlight to find the turn signal bulb socket behind the headlamp.
  • If the washer reservoir or air duct blocks your hand, move it gently aside with a trim panel tool only if needed.

Step 2: Remove the bulb socket

  • Use your hand to twist the bulb socket counterclockwise until it unlocks.
  • Pull the socket straight out of the headlamp housing.
  • Keep the socket aligned as you pull.

Step 3: Remove the old bulb

  • Wear latex or nitrile gloves.
  • Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
  • If it is a twist-lock style bulb, rotate it slightly and remove it from the socket.

Step 4: Install the new bulb

  • Install the new front turn signal bulb into the socket.
  • Make sure it seats fully and sits straight.
  • Do not touch the glass with bare hands.

Step 5: Reinstall the socket

  • Align the socket tabs with the headlamp opening.
  • Insert the socket into the housing and twist clockwise until it locks.
  • Snug is enough; do not over-tighten.

Step 6: Test the turn signal

  • Turn the ignition on.
  • Activate the left and right turn signals one at a time.
  • Confirm the new bulb flashes normally and the dash indicator does not speed up.

✅ After Repair

  • Check both front turn signals for proper brightness and flash rate.
  • Walk around the car and make sure the bulb color matches on both sides.
  • If the new bulb does not light, remove it and verify it is fully seated in the socket.
  • If the turn signal still flashes fast, check the bulb type and socket connection.
