🔧 1500 - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
This job replaces the front turn signal bulb in the headlamp assembly. On your 1500 with halogen front lamps, access is from behind the headlamp housing, so you usually do not need to remove the bumper or the whole headlight.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Turn the lighting switch off and remove the key fob from the truck.
- Let the headlamp area cool if the lights were on recently.
- Do not touch the glass of a halogen bulb with bare fingers; oil can shorten bulb life.
- If the front wheel is turned for access, keep clear of the tire and steering components.
- No battery disconnect is required for this repair.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open the access area
- Turn the steering wheel left to service the passenger side, or right to service the driver side.
- If needed, use a trim panel tool to remove any small inner fender liner push pins for better access.
- Work slowly to avoid breaking clips.
Step 2: Remove the bulb socket
- Reach behind the headlamp assembly and find the turn signal bulb socket.
- Use your hand to twist the socket counterclockwise, then pull it straight out.
- If it is stuck, use a flat-blade screwdriver gently on the retaining tab.
Step 3: Replace the bulb
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
- Push the new bulb into the socket until it seats fully.
- Put on latex or nitrile gloves before handling the new bulb if it is halogen.
- Keep the bulb clean and dry.
Step 4: Reinstall the socket
- Line the socket tabs up with the opening in the headlamp housing.
- Use your hand to twist the socket clockwise until it locks in place.
- Make sure it feels fully seated and does not wobble.
Step 5: Test the light
- Turn the parking lights on and activate the turn signal.
- Check that the front signal flashes at a normal speed.
- Repeat on the other side if you are replacing both bulbs.
✅ After Repair
