🔧 Accord - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement

Your Accord’s front turn signal bulb sits inside the front headlamp housing, so the job is mostly about gaining access, removing the bulb socket, and swapping the bulb without touching the glass. If the new bulb still does not flash, the socket or fuse may need inspection.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Turn the lights off and let the bulb cool before starting.
  • Do not touch the glass of a halogen bulb with bare fingers; oil can shorten bulb life.
  • Keep the ignition off while unplugging or removing bulb sockets.
  • If you need extra access near the front bumper, support the vehicle safely before lifting.
  • No battery disconnect is required for this repair.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Flat-blade trim tool
  • 10mm socket
  • Ratchet
  • Extension
  • Gloves
  • Safety glasses
  • Fender cover

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front turn signal bulb, amber - Qty: 2

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
  • Turn the headlight switch off.
  • Open the hood and secure it fully.
  • Use a fender cover to protect the painted surfaces.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open the hood and locate the headlamp access area

  • Open the hood and stand at the side of the headlamp you are servicing.
  • Look behind the headlamp housing for the turn signal bulb socket.
  • Work slowly to avoid breaking clips.

Step 2: Remove any access cover if equipped

  • Use a flat-blade trim tool to gently release any plastic cover or retainer in the way.
  • If there is a small fastener, remove it with a 10mm socket and ratchet.

Step 3: Remove the turn signal bulb socket

  • Reach behind the headlamp and turn the bulb socket counterclockwise by hand.
  • Pull the socket straight out of the housing.
  • Do not twist hard; the socket should come out with light pressure.

Step 4: Replace the bulb

  • Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
  • Install the new front turn signal bulb, amber into the socket.
  • Make sure it seats fully and straight.
  • Use gloves for a cleaner, safer install.

Step 5: Reinstall the socket

  • Insert the socket back into the headlamp housing.
  • Turn it clockwise by hand until it locks.
  • If you removed any cover or fastener, reinstall it with the flat-blade trim tool or 10mm socket as needed.

Step 6: Test the new bulb

  • Turn the ignition on.
  • Activate the left and right turn signals one at a time.
  • Check for normal flashing and make sure the bulb is bright and steady.

✅ After Repair

  • Walk around the front of the vehicle and confirm both turn signals work correctly.
  • Check the instrument cluster for a bulb-out warning.
  • If the new bulb flashes too fast, recheck the bulb seating and socket connection.
  • Dispose of the old bulb carefully.
