🔧 Front Turn Signal Bulb - Replacement

Your front turn signal bulbs are serviced from the back side of the headlamp assembly. The job is straightforward, but space is tight, so take your time and avoid touching the new bulb glass with bare fingers.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Turn the ignition off and remove the key/fob from the vehicle.
  • Let the headlamp cool down if it has been on recently.
  • Do not touch the bulb glass with bare hands; oil can shorten bulb life.
  • If you need more access, keep hands clear of sharp edges inside the engine bay.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Gloves
  • Safety glasses
  • Flat trim tool
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Small pick tool

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front turn signal bulb, amber - Qty: 2

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
  • Turn the headlights and ignition off.
  • If the bulb is hard to reach, open the hood for rear access to the headlamp.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open the hood and locate the turn signal bulb socket

  • Open the hood and stand at the front of the vehicle.
  • Find the back of the headlamp assembly on the side you are replacing.
  • Look for the turn signal bulb socket near the outer edge of the headlamp housing.
  • Tip: The socket usually twists out by hand.

Step 2: Remove the bulb socket

  • Use your hand to rotate the bulb socket counterclockwise.
  • If it is tight, use needle-nose pliers carefully on the socket base, not the wiring.
  • Pull the socket straight out once it unlocks.

Step 3: Remove the old bulb

  • Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
  • If the bulb is stubborn, use a small pick tool gently to start it out.
  • Check the socket for corrosion or burned terminals.

Step 4: Install the new bulb

  • Push the new amber bulb straight into the socket.
  • Make sure it seats fully and evenly.
  • Do not twist the glass bulb.

Step 5: Reinstall the socket

  • Align the socket with the headlamp opening.
  • Insert it straight in.
  • Rotate it clockwise by hand until it locks.

Step 6: Test the new bulb

  • Turn the ignition on.
  • Activate the turn signal on the side you replaced.
  • Check that the front bulb flashes normally.
  • If it does not light, remove it and verify the bulb is fully seated.

✅ After Repair

  • Check both front turn signals to make sure they flash at the same rate.
  • Verify the dash indicator is not flashing faster than normal.
  • Close the hood securely.
