🔧 Front Turn Signal Bulb - Replacement

This job replaces the front amber turn signal bulb in each front lamp assembly. On your Camry, the bulb is accessed from behind the headlight housing, so you do not need to remove the bumper for a normal bulb swap.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Turn the lights off and let the bulbs cool before touching them.
  • Do not touch a new halogen bulb glass with bare fingers; oil can shorten bulb life.
  • Work carefully around the headlamp wiring and plastic locking tabs.
  • No battery disconnect is required for this repair.
  • Assumption: your front turn signal uses a replaceable bulb, not an LED module.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Trim panel tool
  • Flat-head screwdriver
  • Latex or nitrile gloves
  • Safety glasses
  • Flashlight

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front turn signal bulb - Qty: 2

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
  • Turn the ignition off and remove the key or keep the fob away from the vehicle.
  • Turn the front wheels for extra working room on the side you are servicing.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open the hood

  • Use the hood release inside the cabin, then lift the hood fully.
  • Secure the hood with the prop rod if equipped.

Step 2: Access the back of the headlamp

  • Locate the rear access area for the front turn signal bulb behind the headlight housing.
  • Remove any plastic cover or dust cap by hand or with a flat-head screwdriver if needed.
  • Use gentle pressure on the tabs.

Step 3: Remove the bulb socket

  • Rotate the bulb socket counterclockwise by hand to unlock it.
  • Pull the socket straight out of the headlamp housing.

Step 4: Replace the bulb

  • Twist the old bulb out of the socket.
  • Install the new bulb into the socket using gloves.
  • Make sure the bulb is fully seated and straight.

Step 5: Reinstall the socket

  • Insert the socket back into the headlamp housing.
  • Rotate it clockwise by hand until it locks.
  • Reinstall any dust cap or cover removed earlier.

Step 6: Test the turn signal

  • Turn on the ignition.
  • Activate the left and right turn signals one at a time.
  • Check that both sides flash normally and that the bulb is the correct amber color.

✅ After Repair

  • Confirm both front signals flash at normal speed.
  • If one side flashes rapidly, recheck the bulb seating and socket lock.
  • Look for moisture inside the lamp if the cover was removed.
