🔧 Beetle - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
Replace the front turn signal bulbs to restore proper signaling and prevent a bulb-out warning. On your Beetle, access is typically through the front lamp area, and the job is straightforward if the bulb socket is not stuck.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Turn the ignition off and remove the key before starting.
- Let the bulbs cool down if the lights were recently on; bulbs can get very hot.
- Do not touch the glass part of a halogen bulb with bare fingers; oils can shorten bulb life.
- If the lamp assembly must be loosened, support it so it does not scratch the bodywork.
- Battery disconnect is not usually required for this repair.

- If needed, use the Torx T25 screwdriver or 10mm socket to remove any small access fasteners or covers in the way.

- Use your hand or a small flat-head screwdriver to gently release the bulb socket lock, if equipped.
- Twist the socket counterclockwise and pull it straight out of the lamp housing.
- Do not force it if it resists; wiggle gently and recheck the release tab.
Step 3: Remove the old bulb
- Remove the old bulb from the socket by pulling it straight out or twisting it out, depending on bulb style.
- Inspect the socket for corrosion, melted plastic, or a damaged seal.
Step 4: Install the new bulb
- Install the new front turn signal bulb into the socket.
- Make sure it seats fully and sits straight.
- If the bulb has a glass envelope, use gloves or a clean tissue to handle it.
Step 5: Reinstall the socket
- Align the socket with the housing opening and insert it fully.
- Twist clockwise until it locks in place.
- If removed, reinstall any access cover or fasteners using the Torx T25 screwdriver or 10mm socket.
Step 6: Test the new bulb
- Turn the ignition on and activate the turn signal.
- Check that the front bulb flashes normally and matches the other side.
- If the bulb does not light, remove it and recheck the socket orientation and fitment.
