🔧 Front Turn Signal Bulb - Bulb Replacement
This replaces the front turn signal bulb in the headlamp housing. On some versions of your RAV4, the front signal is a replaceable bulb; on LED-equipped housings, the signal is built-in and not serviceable as a bulb.
Assumption: This procedure applies if your front turn signal uses a replaceable bulb.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Turn the lights off and let the bulb cool before touching anything.
- Do not touch the glass of the new bulb with bare fingers. Skin oil shortens bulb life.
- If the engine bay is tight, work carefully around hot plastic and metal parts.
- No battery disconnect is required for this repair.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Access the rear of the headlamp
- Open the hood.
- Locate the back side of the headlamp housing for the side you are replacing.
- If access is tight, use the trim panel tool to remove any plastic intake duct or cover blocking the back of the lamp.
- Keep fasteners organized.
Step 2: Remove the turn signal bulb socket
- Reach behind the headlamp and find the turn signal bulb socket.
- Twist the socket counterclockwise by hand or use a flat-blade screwdriver gently if needed.
- Pull the socket straight out of the headlamp housing.
Step 3: Replace the bulb
- Twist the old bulb out of the socket or pull it straight out, depending on socket style.
- Install the new front turn signal bulb into the socket.
- Make sure the bulb is fully seated and straight.
- Do not force the bulb.
Step 4: Reinstall the socket
- Insert the socket back into the headlamp housing.
- Twist it clockwise until it locks in place.
- If you removed a duct or cover, reinstall it now and secure all fasteners.
Step 5: Test the new bulb
- Turn the ignition on.
- Activate the turn signal for the side you replaced.
- Check for proper flash rate and brightness.
- If it does not light, remove the socket and recheck the bulb fit.
✅ After Repair
- Verify both front turn signals work correctly.
- Check the indicator on the instrument cluster for a normal flash rate.
