🔧 Acadia - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
On your Acadia, the “front turn signal” can be either a replaceable amber bulb (twist-out socket) or a non-serviceable LED that’s built into the headlamp. The correct repair depends on which headlamp style you have, so we’ll identify it first before you buy parts or start removing panels.
Difficulty Level: Beginner–Intermediate | Estimated Time: 0.3–1.5 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Turn the lights OFF and let the headlamp cool before touching it.
- ⚠️ If you’ll be unplugging the headlamp assembly, disconnect the negative battery cable to avoid setting faults.
- ⚠️ Don’t touch a halogen bulb’s glass with bare fingers; oils can shorten bulb life.
🔧 Required Tools
You'll need the following tools for this repair:
- Nitrile gloves
- Safety glasses
- Trim clip removal tool
- Ratchet
- 7mm socket
- 10mm socket
- Flashlight

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:
- Front turn signal bulb (amber) - Qty: 2
- Front headlamp assembly (if turn signal is LED/non-serviceable) - Qty: 1
- Push-pin/trim clips (assorted) - Qty: 1
đź“‹ Before You Begin
- Park on level ground, shift to Park, and set the parking brake.
- Turn the steering wheel full left (to access right side) or full right (to access left side) if you need to reach the rear of the headlamp through the fender liner.
- If you’ll remove the headlamp assembly: use a 10mm socket to disconnect the negative battery cable and isolate it so it can’t spring back.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Confirm which “turn signal” you’re replacing
- Turn on the hazards and walk to the front of your Acadia.
- Confirm whether you mean the main amber turn signal in the headlamp, or the small side marker lamp on the corner.
- Different socket/bulb types may be used.
Step 2: Identify if it’s a replaceable bulb or an LED module
- Open the hood and use a flashlight to look behind the headlamp.
- If you see a round plastic socket with wiring that looks like it “twists out,” that’s a replaceable bulb.
- If there is no twist-out socket for the turn signal and the amber light looks like a built-in strip/module, it’s typically LED and not serviced as a bulb (headlamp replacement or module-level repair).
Step 3A: If you have a twist-out bulb socket (bulb replacement path)
- Access the rear of the headlamp (either from the engine bay or through the fender liner).
- If accessing through the fender liner: remove the needed push-pins/screws using a trim clip removal tool and 7mm socket.
- Turn the turn-signal socket counterclockwise by hand to unlock it, then pull it straight out.
- Remove the old bulb by pulling it straight out of the socket (no twisting on most push-in styles).
- Install the new amber bulb using nitrile gloves.
- Reinstall the socket and turn it clockwise until fully locked.
Step 3B: If it’s LED/non-serviceable (headlamp assembly path)
- Use a 10mm socket to disconnect the negative battery cable if you haven’t already.
- Remove any upper covers/air guides as needed using a trim clip removal tool and 10mm socket.
- Remove the headlamp mounting fasteners using a ratchet and 10mm socket.
- Carefully slide the headlamp forward and unplug the electrical connectors.
- Install the replacement headlamp, reconnect connectors, and reinstall fasteners.
Step 4: Function check
- Turn the hazards on and confirm the repaired side flashes at a normal speed.
- If you removed liner clips/covers, reinstall them using the trim clip removal tool.
âś… After Repair
- Verify left and right turn signals, hazards, and parking lights all work.
- If the turn signal “hyper-flashes,” recheck the bulb seating and socket lock.
- If you disconnected the battery, reset the clock/radio presets as needed.
