🔧 Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
Your Yaris uses a simple bulb-and-socket setup for the front turn signal. The bulb is accessed from behind the headlamp area, so the job is mostly about reaching the socket, twisting it out, and swapping the bulb without touching the glass.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Turn the ignition off and remove the key before starting.
- Let the headlamp area cool if the lights were on recently.
- Do not touch the new bulb glass with bare fingers; skin oils can shorten bulb life.
- If you need extra room to reach the bulb, disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Work carefully around the headlamp housing so you do not crack the lens or break the socket tabs.

📋 Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
- Turn the steering wheel away from the side you are working on if you need extra access in the wheel well.
- If you are replacing both front bulbs, do one side at a time so you can compare parts and socket position.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open the hood and find the bulb access area
- Open the hood and support it safely.
- Locate the back side of the headlamp assembly on the side you are repairing.
- Look for the turn signal socket near the outer edge.
Step 2: Make room if needed
- If access is tight, use the 10mm socket, ratchet, and short extension to remove any simple upper cover or fastener blocking your hand access.
- Use the trim panel tool if a plastic push clip needs to be removed.
Step 3: Remove the turn signal socket
- Use your hand to twist the bulb socket counterclockwise about a quarter turn.
- Pull the socket straight out of the headlamp housing.
- If it sticks, use needle-nose pliers gently on the socket body, not the wires.
Step 4: Replace the bulb
- Remove the old bulb from the socket by pulling it straight out.
- Install the new front turn signal bulb into the socket.
- Make sure the bulb is seated fully and straight.
Step 5: Reinstall the socket
- Align the socket tabs with the headlamp opening.
- Push the socket in and twist it clockwise until it locks.
- If you removed any cover or clip, reinstall it now.
Step 6: Test the new bulb
- Turn on the parking lights and activate the turn signal.
- Check that the new bulb flashes correctly and stays secure.
- If it does not work, remove the socket again and make sure the bulb is fully seated.
✅ After Repair
- Check both front turn signals to compare brightness and flash rate.
- If the flash rate is abnormal, recheck the bulb type and socket fit.
- Make sure the headlamp area is fully closed up and no tools are left in the engine bay.
