🔧 Front Turn Signal Bulb - Replacement
On your Equinox, the front turn signal bulb is serviced through the headlamp area. The job is straightforward, but space is tight, so careful hand placement helps a lot. If the bulb is amber or the signal flashes fast, replacing the bulb usually fixes it.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Turn the lights off and remove the key before starting.
- Let the headlamp area cool if the lights were recently on.
- Use care around the headlamp lens and painted bumper surfaces.
- If your Equinox has HID or LED headlamps, do not remove high-voltage lighting parts. This guide is for the front turn signal bulb only.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Access the headlamp area
- Open the hood and locate the back of the headlamp assembly on the side you are repairing.
- If the access area is tight, use a 10mm socket and ratchet to remove any nearby air duct or cover pieces that block access.
- Keep removed fasteners together.
Step 2: Remove the turn signal bulb socket
- Reach behind the headlamp and find the turn signal bulb socket.
- Use your hand to rotate the socket counterclockwise, then pull it straight out.
- If needed, use a flat-blade trim tool gently to help release any retainers nearby.
Step 3: Replace the bulb
- Twist the old bulb out of the socket.
- Install the new bulb into the socket by hand.
- Do not touch the glass part of the bulb with bare fingers if the bulb has glass.
Step 4: Reinstall the socket
- Align the socket with the headlamp opening.
- Push it in fully and rotate clockwise to lock it in place.
- Make sure it seats fully so moisture cannot get in.
Step 5: Test the light
- Turn the ignition on and activate the left and right turn signals one at a time.
- Check that the bulb flashes normally and that the dashboard indicator is normal.
- If the signal still flashes fast, recheck the bulb installation.
Step 6: Reinstall any removed parts
- Put back any ducting or covers you removed.
- Use the 10mm socket to tighten fasteners snugly.
- Do not overtighten plastic fasteners.
✅ After Repair
- Check the repaired side again with the hood closed.
- Test hazard flashers to confirm both front bulbs work.
- Verify the lens is seated and no warning messages appear.
