🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Remove the front wheel
- Use a 21mm socket to remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
- Mark wheel positions if you rotate tires later.
Step 2: Free the stabilizer link
- Use a 17mm socket to remove the sway bar link nut from the control arm.
- If the stud spins, use an Allen key set to hold the stud while turning the nut.
Step 3: Separate the lower ball joint from the steering knuckle
- Use a 17mm socket to remove the lower ball joint pinch bolt at the knuckle.
- Use a ball joint separator (specialty) to carefully free the ball joint from the knuckle.
- Do not pull on the brake hose or axle.
Step 4: Remove the rear control arm bolt
- Use a 19mm socket and breaker bar to remove the rear mounting bolt.
- Support the arm with one hand as the bolt comes out.
Step 5: Remove the front control arm bolt
- Use a 19mm socket to remove the front mounting bolt.
- Remove the control arm from the subframe.
Step 6: Install the new control arm
- Position the new arm into the subframe mounts by hand.
- Install the front and rear bolts finger-tight first.
- Insert the ball joint stud into the steering knuckle.
Step 7: Reinstall the ball joint pinch bolt
- Use a 17mm socket to install the pinch bolt and nut.
- Torque to 100 Nm (74 ft-lbs).
Step 8: Reinstall the stabilizer link
- Use a 17mm socket to install the sway bar link nut.
- Torque to 55 Nm (41 ft-lbs).
Step 9: Tighten the control arm mounting bolts at ride height
- Lower the car enough to support the suspension at normal ride height, or use a jack under the lower arm to load the suspension.
- Use a 19mm socket and torque wrench to tighten the mounting bolts.
- Torque to 156 Nm (115 ft-lbs).
- Tighten bushings at ride height.
Step 10: Reinstall the wheel
- Install the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts with a 21mm socket.
- Lower the car and torque to 103 Nm (76 ft-lbs).

- Start the car and listen for clunks or rubbing.
- Turn the steering wheel lock-to-lock and check for smooth movement.
