  • Door panel clip set - Qty: 1
  • Door vapor barrier adhesive - Qty: 1

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and open the door fully.
  • Turn the ignition off and disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Gather all tools before removing the door panel.
  • If the lock is stuck in one position, test the key fob and interior switch one last time before disassembly.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Remove the front door trim panel

  • Use a trim panel tool to pry off the switch bezel and trim covers.
  • Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the visible screws in the armrest and pull handle.
  • Use the trim panel tool to pop the door panel clips loose around the edge.
  • Lift the panel upward to unhook it from the window ledge.

Step 2: Disconnect the wiring and moisture barrier

  • Disconnect the switch connector and any courtesy light connector by hand.
  • Peel back the vapor barrier carefully. Use a trim panel tool if the adhesive is stuck.
  • Keep the barrier clean for reuse.

Step 3: Remove the interior door handle and latch cable

  • Use a pick tool to release the cable end from the handle.
  • Unclip the cable housing from the handle bracket.
  • Set the handle assembly aside without kinking the cable.

Step 4: Remove the lock actuator/latch fasteners

  • Use a 10mm socket to remove the latch mounting bolts at the door edge.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the actuator by pressing the lock tab and pulling straight off.
  • Remove the rod or cable links attached to the latch if equipped.

Step 5: Remove the old actuator/latch assembly

  • Work the assembly out through the access opening in the door.
  • Rotate it slowly to clear the lock rods and door shell.
  • Take your time here to avoid bending the rods.

Step 6: Install the new actuator/latch assembly

  • Feed the new assembly into the door opening in the same direction as the original.
  • Reconnect any rods or cables exactly as removed.
  • Reconnect the electrical connector until it clicks.
  • Install the latch bolts with a 10mm socket.
  • Torque to 8 Nm (71 in-lbs).

Step 7: Reinstall the interior handle cable and panel

  • Snap the cable housing back into the handle bracket.
  • Hook the cable end back into the handle lever.
  • Press the vapor barrier back into place.
  • Hang the door panel on the window ledge, then press the clips in.
  • Install the screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

Step 8: Test the lock system

  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Test the interior lock switch, key fob, and mechanical key if equipped.
  • Check that the door opens from inside and outside.
  • Verify the lock cycles smoothly and does not bind.

✅ After Repair

  • Lock and unlock the door several times.
  • Test both the front door handle and the child safety lock function if equipped.
  • Make sure the door closes securely and latches normally.
  • If the lock does not respond, recheck the electrical connector and rod/cable routing.
