🔧 Front Door Lock Actuator - Replacement
The front door lock actuator is built into the door latch assembly on this truck, so the repair usually means removing the door panel, vapor barrier, and latch assembly. If the actuator is weak, noisy, or only works sometimes, replacing the latch/actuator assembly is the correct fix.
Difficulty Level: Intermediate | Estimated Time: 2-4 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Disconnect the negative battery cable before starting. This helps prevent accidental short circuits and window switch issues.

- Support the door panel when releasing clips so it does not fall or crack.
- Keep the window fully up before removing the inner trim.
- Work with the door open on level ground and set the parking brake.

- Use a trim panel removal tool to pop the door panel clips loose around the perimeter.
- Lift the panel upward to release it from the window ledge.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors and set the panel aside.
Step 2: Remove the moisture barrier
- Use a flat plastic pry tool to carefully peel back the vapor barrier.

Step 3: Disconnect the latch linkages
- Locate the lock rod and door handle linkages at the latch area.
- Use needle-nose pliers to release the small plastic retaining clips.
- Unhook the rods from the latch assembly.
Step 4: Remove the latch/actuator assembly
- Use a Torx T20 screwdriver to remove the latch fasteners at the rear edge of the door.
- Support the latch while removing the last fastener.
- Work the assembly out through the access opening in the door.
- Rotate the latch carefully to clear the opening.
Step 5: Install the new actuator/latch assembly
- Position the new assembly into the door and guide it into place.
- Reconnect the rods and secure each retaining clip fully.
- Install the Torx fasteners and tighten them with a torque wrench to 8 Nm (71 in-lbs).
Step 6: Reassemble the door

✅ After Repair
- Cycle the lock several times with the key fob and interior switch.
- Check that the door closes firmly and the latch does not bind.
- Confirm the window switch, speaker, and mirror controls still work.
