🔧 Front Door Lock Actuator - Replacement
The front door lock actuator on your RAV4 is built into the door latch assembly, so the repair involves removing the interior door trim, disconnecting the latch hardware, and swapping the assembly. If the door handle or lock rod feels loose, take your time with the clips so you do not bend them.
Difficulty Level: Intermediate | Estimated Time: 2-3 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Disconnect the negative battery cable before unplugging the door harness to avoid airbag or short-circuit issues.
- Work carefully around the side-impact airbag area inside the door and A-pillar trim.
- Keep the window fully up before removing the door panel.
- Use trim tools only. Do not pry with metal screwdrivers on painted or soft surfaces.
- Wear safety glasses and gloves. Door edges and clips can be sharp.
