š Before You Begin
- Park your Acent on level ground and turn the engine off.
- Open the hood and support it securely.
- Have your new filter unboxed and ready to avoid dropping debris into the airbox.
šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Locate the air filter housing
- Use flashlight to find the black plastic air cleaner box near the front/side of the engine bay with a large intake tube attached.
Step 2: Unclip the airbox cover
- Put on nitrile gloves and safety glasses.
- Release the metal retaining clips around the airbox by hand.
- If it resists, wiggle the clipādonāt force.
Step 3: Open the airbox and remove the old filter
- Lift the airbox cover up just enough to pull the filter out (you usually donāt need to remove any hoses).
- Remove the old filter straight out and keep it level so dirt doesnāt fall into the lower box.
Step 4: Clean the airbox sealing surface
- Use a clean shop towel to wipe out loose dust/leaves from the lower airbox.
- Wipe the sealing edge where the filter sits so it seals tightly.
- Donāt let debris drop into the intake tube.
Step 5: Install the new air filter
- Place the new filter into the lower airbox in the same orientation as the old one.
- Make sure the filter sits flat and fully inside the rectangular groove all the way around (no corners folded).
Step 6: Close the airbox and secure the clips
- Lower the airbox cover back into position, keeping the filter from shifting.
- Snap all the retaining clips back on by hand.
- Give the airbox a gentle tug to confirm itās fully latched.

- Start the engine and let it idle for 10ā20 seconds.
- Listen for any loud hissing/whistling (a sign the airbox isnāt sealed).
- Re-check that every clip is fully latched and the cover is sitting evenly.
