š Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and shift to Park.
- Shut the engine off and remove the key (or keep the fob away from the vehicle).
- Pop the hood and support it securely.
šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Locate the air filter housing
- Use a flashlight to find the black plastic air box connected to the large intake tube (this is the engineās ābreathingā tube).
Step 2: Unclip the air box cover
- Put on nitrile gloves and safety glasses.
- Release the metal retaining clips around the air box cover by hand.
- Lift the air box cover up just enough to remove the filter. Donāt yank the intake tube.
Step 3: Remove the old filter
- Pull the filter straight out.
- Take a quick look in the lower air box for leaves or heavy dirt, and remove any loose debris by hand (donāt push dirt into the intake).
Step 4: Install the new filter
- Insert the new filter the same way the old one came out.
- Make sure it sits flat in the box and the sealing edge is fully seated all the way around. A pinched seal can cause dirty air leaks.
Step 5: Re-secure the air box
- Lower the cover back into place.
- Snap all the retaining clips back on by hand (you should feel them lock).
- Do a final check that the cover is evenly closed on all sides.

- Start the engine and let it idle for 10ā20 seconds.
- Listen for any loud hissing/whistling (can indicate the air box isnāt fully clipped).
- If you hear an intake leak, shut the engine off and re-check the filter seating and clips.
