š Before You Begin
- Park on level ground, shift to Park, and set the parking brake.
- Open the hood and let the engine cool for 10-15 minutes if it was running.
- Have your flashlight ready so you can see the air box clips clearly.
šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Locate the air filter housing
- Use a flashlight to find the large black plastic air box near the front/side of the engine bay, connected to a big intake tube.
Step 2: Open the air box
- Put on nitrile gloves and safety glasses.
- Release the metal retaining clips around the air box lid by hand.
- Lift the air box lid up just enough to remove the filter. Donāt force the lid.
Step 3: Remove the old filter
- Pull the filter straight out.
- Use a flashlight to check the bottom of the air box for leaves or dirt.
Step 4: Clean the air box sealing surface
- Use a clean shop towel to wipe out loose debris from the air box.
- Wipe the sealing edge where the filter sits so it seals properly. Donāt push dirt into the intake.
Step 5: Install the new filter
- Place the new filter into the air box in the same direction as the old one.
- Make sure it sits flat all the way around (no corners folded).
Step 6: Close and latch the air box
- Lower the lid back into position.
- Re-lock all the retaining clips by hand.
- Visually confirm the lid is evenly seated on all sides.

- Start the engine and let it idle for 15-30 seconds.
- Listen for any hissing/whistling (a sign the air box lid isnāt sealed).
- Re-check the clips and the lid alignment if you hear unusual intake noise.
