🔧 Kicks - Engine Air Filter Replacement
The engine air filter cleans the air going into your engine. Replacing a dirty filter helps your Kicks breathe easier, maintain power, and protect the engine from dust and debris.

⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Let the engine cool if it was just running to avoid burns.
- ⚠️ Keep fingers clear of the cooling fan area; it can turn on unexpectedly.
- ⚠️ No battery disconnect is required for this job on your Kicks.

📋 Before You Begin
- Park your Kicks on level ground and turn the engine off.
- Open the hood and make sure the engine area is well-lit (use a flashlight).
- Take a quick photo before removal.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Find the air filter box
- Locate the black plastic air filter housing (air box) near the engine.
- You’ll see metal clips and/or screws holding the lid down.
Step 2: Unclip or unscrew the air box lid
- Release the housing clips by hand.
- If your air box uses screws, remove them with a Phillips #2 screwdriver.
- If a clip is tight, gently pry with a flat trim tool (a plastic pry tool that helps avoid breaking clips).
Step 3: Open the air box and remove the old filter
- Lift the lid enough to access the filter (you usually don’t need to remove the whole lid).
- Pull the old air filter straight out.
- Use a flashlight to look inside the air box for leaves or dirt.
Step 4: Clean the air box sealing surface
- Wipe the inside edge where the filter seals using a clean rag (no tools required).
- Do not let debris fall down into the intake tube.
Step 5: Install the new engine air filter
- Install the new filter in the same direction as the old one.
- Make sure it sits flat and fully into the grooves so it seals all the way around.
- If it won’t sit flat, it’s misaligned.
Step 6: Close the air box and secure it
- Lower the lid and make sure it’s seated evenly.
- Reinstall screws with a Phillips #2 screwdriver (snug only; do not overtighten).
- Re-latch the clips by hand until they fully snap into place.
✅ After Repair
- Start your Kicks and let it idle for 10–20 seconds.
- Listen for whistling or hissing (a sign the air box isn’t sealed).
- Recheck that all clips/screws are secure and the lid is fully closed.
