Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open the airbox
- Use a flashlight to locate the airbox lid and its fasteners.
- If your airbox uses clips, release them by hand (use a flathead screwdriver (medium) only if theyāre stubborn).
- If your airbox uses a screw-style clamp/fastener, loosen it with a flathead screwdriver (medium).
Step 2: Remove the old air filter
- Lift the airbox lid enough to access the filter.
- Pull the old filter straight out by hand.
- Tip: Note the direction it sits before removal.
Step 3: Clean the airbox sealing area
- Use a shop towel to wipe out loose dust inside the airbox.
- Wipe the lip/edge where the filter seals. A good seal prevents unfiltered air leaks.
- Do not drop dirt into the intake opening.
Step 4: Install the new air filter
- Place the new filter into the airbox in the same orientation as the old one.
- Make sure it sits flat and fully in its groove all the way around.
Step 5: Close and secure the airbox
- Lower the airbox lid into place.
- Re-latch the clips by hand, or tighten the fastener with a flathead screwdriver (medium) until snug (do not over-tighten).
- Do a quick visual check that the lid is evenly closed on all sides.

- Listen for a hissing/whistling sound (can indicate the airbox isnāt sealed).
