- Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
- Open the hood and make sure the engine is off.
- Have the new air filter ready before removing the air box cover.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open the air box
- Locate the air filter box on the engine side of the engine bay.
- Use a Torx T20 screwdriver or flat-blade screwdriver to remove the air box cover fasteners, if equipped.
- Release any metal clips by hand or with a trim clip tool.
- Lift the cover straight up. Keep it level so dirt does not fall inside.
Step 2: Remove the old filter
- Lift the old air filter out of the housing by hand.
- Check the bottom of the air box for leaves, dust, or debris.
- Wipe the inside of the housing clean with a dry cloth if needed.
Step 3: Install the new filter
- Place the new engine air filter into the housing in the same direction as the old one.
- Make sure the rubber edge sits flat all the way around.
- Do not force it.
Step 4: Reinstall the air box cover
- Set the cover back on the air box.
- Engage all clips by hand.
- Reinstall the fasteners with the Torx T20 screwdriver or flat-blade screwdriver.
- Tighten snugly only. Torque to 2-3 Nm (18-27 in-lbs) if your cover uses screws.
Step 5: Final check
- Confirm the cover is seated evenly and all clips are locked.
- Close the hood.
- Start the engine and listen for any unusual intake noise.

- Make sure no warning lights are on.
- Recheck the air box cover after a short drive if it was disturbed.
