Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open the air box
- Open the hood and locate the air box on top of the engine bay.
- Use your hands to release the retaining clips on the air box lid.
- If a clip is tight, use a small flathead screwdriver carefully to help pop it free.
Step 2: Remove the old filter
- Lift the air box lid enough to access the filter.
- Pull the old engine air filter straight out by hand.
- Check the air box for leaves, dirt, or debris and wipe it clean with a dry cloth if needed.
Step 3: Install the new filter
- Place the new engine air filter into the air box the same way the old one sat.
- Make sure the filter edge seals all the way around.
- Do not force it.
Step 4: Close and secure the air box
- Lower the air box lid back into place.
- Use your hands to snap all retaining clips back on.
- Check that the lid is fully seated and not pinching the filter.
