📋 Before You Begin

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open the hood

  • Pull the hood release inside the cabin, then lift the hood and secure it.
  • Use no tool for this step.

Step 2: Locate the air cleaner box

  • Find the large black air box on the passenger side of the engine bay.
  • This is the housing that contains the engine air filter.

Step 3: Release the air box cover

  • Use a flathead screwdriver or trim clip tool to release the air box clips if needed.
  • Lift the cover carefully and do not force it.

Step 4: Remove the old filter

  • Lift the old air filter straight out of the housing by hand.
  • Note the filter’s orientation before removal.

Step 5: Clean the air box

  • Use a clean cloth to wipe out any dust or leaves from the air box.
  • Make sure nothing falls into the intake opening.

Step 6: Install the new filter

  • Set the new engine air filter into the housing in the same direction as the old one.
  • Make sure the filter edge sits flat all the way around.

Step 7: Reinstall the air box cover

  • Lower the cover into place and secure all clips by hand or with the flathead screwdriver if needed.
  • There is no torque spec for the cover clips.

Step 8: Final check

  • Close the hood and make sure it latches fully.
  • Start the engine and listen for any unusual air leaks or whistling.

✅ After Repair

  • Make sure the hood is fully latched.
  • Check that the air box cover is seated evenly all the way around.
