Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open the air cleaner box
- Locate the black air box on the engine side of the compartment.
- Use your hands to release the metal clips or loosen the cover fasteners, depending on what is fitted.
- Lift the top of the air box carefully.
- Do not force any clip.
Step 2: Remove the old air filter
- Lift the old engine air filter straight out of the housing.
- Watch for dirt or leaves in the bottom of the box.
- If debris is present, wipe it out gently with a clean cloth.
Step 3: Install the new air filter
- Place the new engine air filter into the housing in the same orientation as the old one.
- Make sure the filter sits flat all the way around the edge.
- Seal all the way around matters.
Step 4: Close the air cleaner box
- Lower the cover back into place.
- Reinstall or snap shut all clips by hand.
- Check that the lid is fully seated and secure on every side.
