📋 Before You Begin

• 🅿️ Park on level ground and shift to Park.
• Open the hood and prop it securely.
• Assumption: Your airbox uses metal latches and/or a small clamp screw (common on the Fusion). Follow the latch steps that match what you see.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Locate the airbox

• Use a flashlight to find the black plastic airbox connected to the large intake tube.
• The intake tube often has a sensor nearby; avoid pulling on any wiring.

Step 2: Release the airbox cover

• If your airbox has metal clips, pop them open using your fingers or a small flathead screwdriver.
• If your intake tube clamp blocks the cover, loosen the clamp using a 7mm socket and 1/4" ratchet (just loosen—do not remove the clamp completely unless needed).
• Don’t pry hard; plastic tabs can snap.

Step 3: Open the airbox and remove the old filter

• Lift the airbox lid upward enough to access the filter.
• Pull the old filter straight out with your hands while wearing nitrile gloves.
• Note the orientation (which side faces up/out). The new filter must sit the same way.

Step 4: Clean the airbox sealing surface

• Use a shop towel to wipe out loose dust/leaves inside the bottom half of the airbox.
• Wipe the rim where the filter seals so unfiltered air can’t sneak past.
• Do not let dirt fall into the intake tube opening.

Step 5: Install the new engine air filter

• Insert the new engine air filter into the airbox, matching the original orientation.
• Make sure the filter’s edges sit flat in the tray all the way around.
• If it won’t sit flat, it’s not aligned.

Step 6: Close and secure the airbox

• Lower the airbox lid back into place.
• Snap the clips closed (or re-engage the cover tabs) by hand; use the small flathead screwdriver only if needed to help guide a clip.
• If you loosened the clamp, snug it with the 7mm socket and 1/4" ratchet (do not over-tighten—just firm).

Step 7: Quick final check

• Visually confirm the airbox is fully closed and evenly seated.
• Make sure no tools or rags are left in the engine bay.

• Start your Fusion and let it idle for 30 seconds.
• Listen for any hissing/whistling that could indicate the airbox lid isn’t sealed.
• If you hear a leak, shut it off and re-check the filter seating and clips/clamp.
