🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Locate the air filter housing

• Use a flashlight to find the black plastic air box in the engine bay (it connects to the intake tube going toward the engine).
• Look for metal clips and/or Phillips screws around the air box lid.

Step 2: Unlatch or unscrew the air box lid

• If equipped with clips, release them by hand and swing the lid upward.
• If equipped with screws, loosen them using a Phillips screwdriver #2 (usually they stay captured in the lid).
• Don’t force it—recheck for a hidden clip.

Step 3: Remove the old air filter

• Lift the filter straight out by hand.
• Use a flashlight to check the bottom of the air box for leaves, sand, or bugs.

Step 4: Clean the air box sealing surface

• Use a clean shop towel to wipe out loose debris in the air box.
• Wipe the rim where the filter seals so the new filter can seat correctly.
• Do not let dirt fall down the intake tube.

Step 5: Install the new air filter

• Drop the new filter into the air box by hand, matching the shape exactly.
• Make sure it sits fully flat with no corners folded or lifted.
• Correct seating prevents unfiltered air leaks.

Step 6: Close and secure the air box

• Close the air box lid and ensure it aligns evenly all the way around.
• Refasten the clips by hand and/or tighten screws with a Phillips screwdriver #2 until snug (no torque spec required).

Step 7: Quick final check

• Use a flashlight to confirm the lid is fully closed and all clips/screws are secured.
• Make sure no tools or towels are left in the engine bay.
