- Turn the ignition off and remove the key or fob from the vehicle.
- Open the hood and locate the air filter box on the engine bay.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open the air filter housing
- Locate the engine air box on the passenger side of the engine bay.
- Release the air box cover clips by hand. No tool is usually needed.
- Lift the cover carefully without forcing the intake hose.
Step 2: Remove the old air filter
- Lift the old filter straight out of the air box.
- Note how it sits in the housing so the new one goes in the same way.
- Don’t shake debris into the intake.
Step 3: Clean the air box
- Use a clean shop rag or vacuum to remove leaves, dust, and dirt from the air box.
- Check the sealing edge for cracks, damage, or heavy debris.
Step 4: Install the new air filter
- Place the new filter into the housing in the same orientation as the old one.
- Make sure the filter sits flat all the way around the sealing edge.
- If it does not sit flat, remove it and reseat it before closing the box.
Step 5: Close and latch the housing
- Lower the air box cover into place.
- Press the cover down and re-secure all clips by hand.
- Confirm every latch is fully locked.
