📋 Before You Begin

• Park on level ground and set the parking brake.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open and empty the glove box

• Open the glove box and remove any items so nothing falls out.
• Use a flashlight to look along the right side for the glove box “damper” arm (the small strap that slows the glove box). It’s easy to miss.

Step 2: Disconnect the glove box damper

• On the right side of the glove box, gently pop the damper arm off its pin using a plastic trim removal tool or a small flat-blade screwdriver.
• Work slowly to avoid snapping the clip.

Step 3: Drop the glove box down

• Push inward on both glove box sides (near the outer edges) to clear the stops.
• Lower the glove box fully so you can access the HVAC housing behind it.

Step 4: Remove the cabin filter access door

• Locate the rectangular filter cover on the HVAC box behind the glove box.
• Release the cover tabs by hand; if tight, gently help with a plastic trim removal tool.
• Remove the access door and set it aside.

Step 5: Remove the old filter

• Slide the old cabin filter straight out.
• Use the flashlight to inspect the slot for leaves/debris and remove any loose material by hand (wear nitrile gloves).

Step 6: Install the new filter (correct direction)

• Check the airflow arrow on the new filter frame.
• Install it in the same direction as the old one came out (airflow direction must match).
• Slide the filter fully in so it sits flat and doesn’t buckle.

Step 7: Reinstall the access door and glove box

• Reinstall the filter access door and press until the tabs click into place.
• Lift the glove box back up, push the sides inward again, and set it back past the stops.
• Reconnect the damper arm to its pin on the right side (press until it snaps on).

• Start the engine and turn the blower to high to confirm strong airflow.
• Cycle modes (panel/floor/defrost) and listen for any rattles that could indicate the filter door isn’t fully latched.
• If there’s a musty smell, run A/C for a few minutes; a fresh filter can take a short drive to “air out.”
