🔧 Cabin Air Filter - Replacement

Your Rogue uses a cabin air filter behind the glove box. This is a quick DIY job that improves airflow and helps keep dust, pollen, and odors out of the cabin.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.3-0.5 hours

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Turn the ignition off and remove the key/fob from the vehicle.
  • Work gently around the glove box clips and stops so you do not crack the trim.
  • No battery disconnect is required for this job.
  • Make sure the filter airflow arrow matches the original filter direction.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • No tools required
  • Flashlight
  • Gloves

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Cabin air filter - Qty: 1

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
  • Open the passenger door fully for better access.
  • Keep the glove box empty so it can lower smoothly.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open the glove box

  • Open the glove box and remove any items inside.
  • Let the glove box hang open so you can see the side stops.

Step 2: Release the glove box stops

  • Use your hands to gently press inward on both sides of the glove box.
  • This lets the stops clear the opening and the glove box drop down farther.
  • Move slowly to avoid breaking the hinges.

Step 3: Remove the cabin filter cover

  • Look behind the glove box for the rectangular cabin filter door.
  • Use your fingers to release the cover tabs and remove the filter access cover.

Step 4: Remove the old filter

  • Pull the old cabin air filter straight out.
  • Note the direction of the airflow arrow on the old filter.
  • If debris falls out, vacuum the housing if needed.

Step 5: Install the new filter

  • Install the new cabin air filter with the airflow arrow pointing the same direction as the old one.
  • Slide it in fully and make sure it sits flat.
  • Do not force it.

Step 6: Reinstall the cover and glove box

  • Reinstall the filter cover until it clicks into place.
  • Lift the glove box back up and let the side stops engage normally.
  • Check that the glove box opens and closes smoothly.

✅ After Repair

  • Start the vehicle and turn the fan on to medium speed.
  • Check for strong airflow and any rattles from the glove box area.
  • If airflow is still weak, verify the filter is installed in the correct direction.
