🔧 Ioniq - Cabin Air Filter Replacement
Your Ioniq’s cabin air filter cleans the air coming through the vents (dust, pollen, odors). Replacing it helps HVAC airflow and keeps the inside air fresher, especially if the fan feels weak or smells musty.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open and empty the glove box
- Open the glove box and remove anything inside so it doesn’t spill.
- Use a flashlight to look along the right side of the glove box for the small damper arm (a little plastic “slow-down” strap).
Step 2: Disconnect the glove box damper arm
- On the right side, gently pop the damper arm off its peg by pressing its locking tab and pulling it free by hand.
- Don’t yank—wiggle it gently.
Step 3: Release the glove box stops
- With one hand supporting the glove box, squeeze the left and right sides of the glove box inward by hand.
- This lets the built-in “stops” clear the dash opening so the glove box can swing down farther.
Step 4: Remove the cabin filter access door
- Behind the lowered glove box you’ll see a rectangular filter cover.
- Use your fingers to press the cover’s side tabs and pull the cover off.
- Keep using the flashlight so you can see the tabs clearly.
Step 5: Remove the old cabin air filter
- Slide the old filter straight out.
- Pay attention to the AIR FLOW arrow printed on the filter’s side (this tells you which way it was installed).
- Keep it level to avoid dumping leaves.
Step 6: Install the new cabin air filter
- Install the new filter in the same direction as the old one, matching the AIR FLOW arrow.
- Slide it in fully so it sits flat and doesn’t buckle.
Step 7: Reinstall the cover and glove box
- Reinstall the filter cover until both tabs click in place.
- Swing the glove box back up and squeeze the sides inward again to get the stops back into position.
- Reconnect the glove box damper arm on the right side until it snaps back on.
âś… After Repair
- Start the car and run the fan on medium-high for 30 seconds.
- Make sure airflow is stronger and there are no rattles from the glove box area.
- If there’s a whistle sound, the filter may not be seated flat—recheck the cover and filter alignment.
