šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open and release the glove box
- Open the glove box fully.
- Use your hands to gently push in the left and right sides of the glove box to clear the stops, then let it swing down.
- Go slowāplastic tabs can snap.
Step 2: Locate the cabin filter access area
- Use a flashlight to look behind the glove box opening.
- Look for a rectangular HVAC access door (usually a small cover with tabs or small screws).
Step 3: Remove the cabin filter door (two possible setups)
- If the door has squeeze tabs: press the tabs by hand or use a plastic trim removal tool to help release it, then pull the cover off.
- If the door uses screws: remove screws using a 7mm socket with a 1/4" drive ratchet or a Phillips screwdriver, then remove the cover.
- Set screws aside so they donāt disappear.
Step 4: Remove the old cabin air filter
- Slide the filter straight out with your hands while wearing nitrile gloves.
- Keep it levelāleaves and dust may fall out.
Step 5: Install the new cabin air filter
- Check the airflow arrow on the filter frame and match it to the airflow direction marked on the HVAC housing (if marked).
- Slide the new filter in smoothlyādonāt force it.
- If it binds, itās likely upside down.
Step 6: Reinstall the access door and glove box
- Reinstall the door by snapping it back in place by hand, or reinstall screws using a 7mm socket and 1/4" drive ratchet (or Phillips screwdriver).
- Lift the glove box back up and push in the sides again to pass the stops, then close it.

- š Start the truck and run the fan on high for 30 seconds to confirm strong airflow and no rattles.
- š If you had a musty smell, run A/C for a few minutes and confirm improvement.
- š§¹ If debris fell into the housing, remove the filter and vacuum the opening gently using the flashlight to see.
