🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Empty the glove box
- Remove everything from the glove box so it can drop fully.
- Keep the area clear.
Step 2: Lower the glove box
- Use your hands to gently squeeze the glove box sides inward.
- Let the box swing down past the side stops.
- If it resists, use a small flat trim tool carefully on the stop points.
- Do not pry hard.
Step 3: Remove the glove box damper
- Use your fingers to unhook the small damper arm on the right side of the glove box.
- This lets the glove box hang fully open.
Step 4: Open the filter cover
- Use your fingers to press the tabs on the cabin filter cover.
- Pull the cover straight out.
- If needed, use a small flat trim tool to gently release a stubborn tab.
Step 5: Remove the old cabin filter
- Use your hands to slide the old filter straight out.
- Watch for leaves, dust, or debris in the housing.
- Note the airflow arrow.
Step 6: Clean the housing
- Use a flashlight to inspect the housing.
- Wipe out loose debris with a clean hand or cloth.
Step 7: Install the new filter
- Insert the new cabin air filter by hand.
- Match the airflow arrow on the filter to the direction of the old one.
- Make sure the filter sits flat and fully inside the slot.
Step 8: Reinstall the cover and glove box
- Snap the filter cover back into place by hand.
- Rehook the glove box damper arm.
- Lift the glove box and squeeze the sides inward so it passes the stops.
- Make sure it opens and closes smoothly.

- Start the vehicle and run the fan on medium speed.
- Check for strong airflow from the vents.
- If the air smells dusty at first, let the fan run for a few minutes.
- Verify the glove box closes properly and does not bind.
