- Open the glove box and clear out any items inside.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open and clear the glove box
- Open the glove box fully and remove everything inside.
- Work slowly to avoid breaking clips.
Step 2: Release the glove box stops
- Use your hands to gently squeeze the sides of the glove box inward.
- This lets the stops clear the dash opening and the glove box swing down farther.
Step 3: Lower the glove box
- Let the glove box hang down carefully.
- If your model has a damper strap, unhook it by hand.
Step 4: Remove the cabin filter cover
- Locate the rectangular cabin filter cover behind the glove box.
- Press the release tabs by hand and remove the cover.
Step 5: Remove the old filter
- Pull the old cabin air filter straight out by hand.
- Note the airflow arrow on the filter before removing it.
- Airflow direction matters.
Step 6: Install the new filter
- Slide the new cabin air filter into the slot by hand.
- Make sure the airflow arrow matches the direction shown on the old filter or housing.
Step 7: Reinstall the cover and glove box
- Reinstall the cabin filter cover until it clicks into place.
- Lift the glove box back up and snap the side stops back into position by hand.
- Reconnect the damper strap if equipped.
