- Use a flashlight to look along the right side for the glove box ādamperā (a small arm/strap that slows the glove box opening).
Step 2: Disconnect the glove box damper
- On the right side, gently pop the damper arm off its pin.
- If itās tight, use a small flat trim tool to carefully pry it free.
- Go slowādonāt bend the damper.
Step 3: Drop the glove box down
- Push in on both sides of the glove box to release the side stops.
- Let the glove box swing down toward the floor (it will hang on its hinges).
Step 4: Remove the cabin filter cover
- Behind the glove box, locate the rectangular cabin filter access door.
- Press the retaining tabs and remove the cover by hand.
- Use a flashlight to clearly see the tabs before pressing.
Step 5: Remove the old cabin air filter
- Pull the filter straight out.
- Wear nitrile glovesāfilters can be dusty and full of debris.
- Use the flashlight to check inside the housing for leaves or dirt; remove any loose debris by hand.
Step 6: Install the new cabin air filter (correct direction)
- Find the airflow arrow on the side of the new filter.
- Install it in the same orientation as the old one. (Typically, airflow points down toward the blower, but match what you removed.)
- Slide it in evenly so it doesnāt fold or crush.
- A crushed filter reduces airflow.
Step 7: Reinstall the cover and glove box
- Reinstall the cabin filter cover until the tabs click into place.
- Lift the glove box back up and push in the sides again to pass the stops and close normally.
- Reconnect the damper arm on the right side (press it back onto its pin by hand).
ā After Repair

- š If there was a musty smell, run A/C for a few minutes; odor should improve over the next day or two.
