🔧 Envision - Cabin Air Filter Replacement
Replacing the cabin air filter keeps dust, pollen, and odors out of the air you breathe inside your Envision. A clogged filter can reduce A/C and heat airflow and make the blower motor work harder.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 15-30 minutes
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Turn ignition OFF and remove the key fob from the vehicle.
- ⚠️ Work gently around the glove box area to avoid breaking plastic tabs.
- ⚠️ Battery disconnect is not required for this job.

📋 Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
- Move the front passenger seat back to give yourself room to work.
- Have a small trash bag ready for leaves and dust that may fall out.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open and empty the glove box
- Open the glove box and remove any items so nothing falls out.
- Use a flashlight to look along the inside edges for any small stop tabs or a damper arm.
Step 2: Release the glove box so it can drop down
- On the right side, disconnect the glove box damper (a small arm that slows the glove box) if equipped.
- Use a trim removal tool (plastic pry tool) to gently pop the damper off its pin (do not yank).
- Push the glove box sides inward by hand to clear the stops, then let it swing downward.
- Tip: Press one side at a time.
Step 3: Remove the cabin filter access door
- Behind the dropped glove box, locate the rectangular cabin filter cover.
- If there are screws, remove them with a Phillips #2 screwdriver.
- If it uses clips, release them carefully using a trim removal tool (plastic pry tool).
Step 4: Remove the old cabin air filter
- Slide the old filter straight out.
- Keep it level to avoid dumping debris.
- Use a flashlight to check for leaves or dirt inside the housing, and wipe it out with a clean rag (use your work gloves).
Step 5: Install the new cabin air filter
- Check the airflow arrow on the new filter frame.
- Install it in the same direction as the old one came out (airflow should point toward the blower motor, into the HVAC box).
- Slide it in fully so it sits flat and doesn’t buckle.
Step 6: Reinstall the access door
- Reinstall the cabin filter cover and ensure all clips are fully seated.
- If screws were removed, reinstall them with a Phillips #2 screwdriver until snug (do not overtighten).
Step 7: Reinstall the glove box
- Lift the glove box back up into position.
- Push the sides inward again to pass the stop tabs back into place.
- Reconnect the damper arm if you removed it (press it back onto the pin by hand).
✅ After Repair
- Start the vehicle and run the fan at all speeds to confirm strong airflow and no rattles.
- Switch between fresh air and recirculation to make sure airflow sounds normal.
- If you notice a whistling noise, the filter may not be seated flat—recheck fitment.
