🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open the passenger-side access area
- Use a trim panel removal tool to carefully remove the passenger-side lower trim panel under the glovebox area.
- If your XC90 has a retaining screw, remove it with a T20 Torx screwdriver.
- Set the panel and screw aside safely.
Step 2: Remove the filter cover
- Use your hands or the trim panel removal tool to release the cabin filter cover.
- Pull the cover straight off so the tabs do not bend.
- Keep pressure light on the plastic clips.
Step 3: Remove the old cabin air filter
- Slide the old filter out carefully.
- Note the airflow direction arrow on the old filter before removing it.
- If the filter is dirty, tap it gently into a trash bag to avoid spreading debris.
Step 4: Install the new cabin air filter
- Insert the new filter in the same direction as the old one.
- Make sure the airflow arrow matches the original orientation.
- Push it fully into place without forcing it.
Step 5: Reinstall the cover and trim
- Reinstall the filter cover until it clicks into place.
- Put the lower trim panel back in position.
- If removed, reinstall the T20 Torx screw and snug it down.
